Nasal Surgery Helpful for Patients with Obstructive Sleep Apnea

adminJuly 28, 2023

An improvement in quality of life for patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and symptoms of nasal blockages has been proven following nasal surgery to remove the blockages.

Blockage of nasal passages is common in OSA patients.  Post-surgery symptoms of nasal obstruction improved significantly, as well as improvement in snoring and sleepiness.

Previous studies have found surgeries such as a tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy can improve quality of life for child OSA sufferers. This study’s findings substantiate the role nasal surgery can play in the treatment of nasal obstruction among OSA sufferers.

The study was published in the April issue of Archives of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery.
